"Kids: they dance before they learn there is anything that isn't music. "

American poet laureate, William Stafford, wrote that. Happy Mother's Day to my mom in Florida, and to every mom--you are the melody in the music of the world. : )

Many moms made it possible to enjoy our Hudson Valley Artist Spotlight last night as we heard the beautiful voices of: Caleb (whose mom, Diane coordinated this performance), Maddie, Gracie (whose sister, Isabella joined us), Dave, Maya, Ava, Adam, Scott & Simon (whose mom, Rebecca took these photos! : )
Together, this magnanimous group of talented 11 & 12-year-olds from Farragut Middle School in Hastings-on-Hudson, are known as We ARE The Children 2010. They performed the song We Are The World, for which they've created a video to support the work of UNICEF.
You'll be moved when you watch...

You can support the efforts of We ARE The Children 2010 at their UNICEF page. They're planning more recordings--can't wait!

Last Saturday was a sunshine-beautiful day at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights as our furry friends and the humans who love them, stepped out to support the SPCA of Westchester at the annual Wags & Whiskers Walkathon & Pet Fair. This year, I had the pleasure of introducing the Port Chester Obedience Training Club Agility Dogs...WOW, were they awesome! There was also an impressive show from a variety of dogs whose temporary home is at the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, who are looking for a loving, permanent home. Maybe yours? I didn't get a lot of photos because it was a busy day, but there are a bunch posted here. I did manage to take a few...
Bocker the Labradoodle and his fab smile!

Tom, Johnathen & their pal Sampson from Yorktown. : )

Apollo helps teach cat & dog first aid with the American Red Cross! They have classes scheduled for 5/22 and 6/19, details at their site.

Gotta love this t-shirt that reads, "You had me at Woof!"
Also met a gorgeous horse named Patches, and his friends from Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue in Milbrook. Their Spring Fling is next Saturday, 5/15 from 11-3.

Peekskill was transformed into a movie set last week for the upcoming film Mildred Pierce. Here's a short (very amateurish and too windy) clip of the action on Brown Street...

Love & music to moms,

Catherine Kitty 2
